Back to the 1980s!

What should you do for a friend and co-worker who is turning 30 years old and who is sad about leaving her 20s behind? Make them a cake from a childhood icon that they love!

I decorated cakes while I was in college, but that was 7 years ago and I am completely out of practice, but here it is for the world to see. I hope she loves it!!

Dusted off the Sewing Machines!

It seems like it's been forever since I used one of my sewing machines. I was having withdrawals looking at all of my fabrics! So what did I sew? A strap cover for my camera!
Yes... it IS a film camera. My husband I will be those crazy people in a few years begging Kodak to not stop making film! We have a DSLR, but I have never been able to get into it for more than snapshots. I miss taking film photographs. I used to adore taking black and white photographs, creating and printing beautiful artistic works of art. I hear so many people in the digital work talk about grain in the photograph and it's a bad thing. In the film world, grain is what gives a black and white photograph it's true character and texture, it's part of the art of film photography. If you aren't familiar with black and white film art photography, look up Ansel Adams (my husband's idol!). And don't get me wrong here, I'm not against digital, I took the photograph of my camera with my husband's Nikon D70. I just want to go back to where my love of photography started and revisit it.

Garden Progress: 4.13.2010

We're making progress!! The seedlings have been taking a trip outside into the warm sun the past few days.

My "Grandma Bristow" heirloom tomato volunteers are coming up! Usually I have to hunt through the weeds to find the but I actually got my bed weeded and tilled before they started coming up!

And L and I had planted onions in one of the raised beds and they are poking their way through the soil! We planted the second half of the bag in a different bed today.

I would love to just plant everything into the ground today, but we're not past our last danger of frost yet!

No, really, I'm way out of shape...

Adding to the exercising day, I just put in my new workout video. Okay, actually it's one of my first 3 workout videos I've ever bought and I just got them last week. I order the Biggest Loser yoga video because I've always wanted to learn yoga and I've read reviews this was a good beginner video. The yoga I enjoyed, I felt good but not totally exhausted. Tonight I put in a Jillian Michaels video and it kicked my butt! I was only able to get through 3 of the 7 circuits. I might not have a lot of physical weight to loose, but I am sure out of shape because my heart was racing and I was pouring sweat! It is going to take a lot of work to get up to all 7 circuits! Now I just need to get a routine down of walking and yoga that I like with a butt kicking high speed Jillian workout!

Walking and Fresh Air

L and I got out of the house this afternoon and enjoyed a nice walk at a local park. The park is centered around 2 natural ponds, tons of ducks, geese and birds make the ponds home during warmer weather. I pushed L in her stroller while she munched on a snack, drank a Capri Sun and watched the wildlife and people. She told me she wants to learn to roller skate after seeing 2 people on roller blades. She thought it was pretty cool how they were speeding along! I was able to make it 1.75 miles today and my legs burning. I know that's not much for some people, but after spending a snowy winter inside with hardly any exercise, I'm doing good! I just have to remember that it is much harder to push a stroller against the wind than it is to just walk with one of the dogs!

April Showers Bring May Flowers

But they also topple over April flowers!! So since my hyacinths were in full bloom and toppled to the ground thanks to some heavy April showers I decided to cut a few and bring them in to enjoy their fragrance.

Tasty Tuesday: Layered Enchilada Bake

I thought I wasn't enjoying doing Tasty Tuesday, but I realized if I knew I wanted to post a recipe, I would actually find a recipe and have a good dinner, not a last minute throw it together, not that tasty of a dinner

So tonight I made a Layered Enchilada Bake. Recipe was found at Kraft Foods.
Authentic? No... Healthy? Probably not... Tasty? Yes!!
