Sometimes you have work on the necessities

Part of me didn't want to make a new post and bump down the photo of my daughter holding my hand. She is growing up way to fast! Do you know that she is turning 3 years old in less than a week?!?!

I apologize for the lack of creativity in my handmade Monday but it was a necessity. L has outgrown all of her pjs that I made her in the fall and I needed a few new pairs of pants myself. Dh also got his own motorcycle pair but I didn't get them in the photo because he loves them so much that I'm going to have to steal them to wash them!
The 2 middle pairs are mine and the two outer pairs are L's. The frogs on the left are the very last of this flannel that L has had at least 3 pairs out of! Her monkey's are quite done yet, they need elastic and hemmed but I made a pair just like them for a birthday gift over the weekend.

Handmade Monday

I love to give handmade gifts, they are something special from the heart. I wanted to show you this things I made that were gifted over the weekend.
I am addicted to this skirt pattern right now, it's from Ottobre 1/2006 #12. A light blue Old Navy t-shirt was sent with it to complete the outfit. Fabrics were in my stash but they were purchased at Hobby Lobby maybe a year ago.
Sewing for a boy is a huge challenge for me, only have a little girl, so I finally settled on a tutorial from Saltwater Kids. The t-shirts were from Walmart and both fabrics, fishing lures and baseballs were in my stash.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope that you get to spend the day with the one(s) you love!

My daughter has been telling us Happy Valentine's Day all day! And she loves things that come from the heart. Her daddy made her a paper heart valentine and she has been carrying it around all day!

Photo Friday

There are 2 hound dogs in our house, a scent hound and a sight hound. While I was taking photos of some finished projects in the backyard, Mr. Sight hound was being photogenic.

A rare sitting moment, soaking up the winter sun and yes, I was a bad mom and didn't have his coat on! For those that don't know much about greyhounds they don't have much body fat, they don't have an undercoat, and their skin is very thin so they get cold easily. But, the snow was melting and the sun was nice and warm and he was enjoying it and we went in right after these photos.

I think there was a squirrel in the tree behind me... and he's showing off one of his racing tattoos, that's the green stuff on his ear.

It's hard to believe that my handsome dark brindle greyhound that was out of racing and up for adoption at just 2 years old is now 6 years old.

Handmade Monday

Over the weekend I went back through the Ottobre issues that I have looking for patterns that L fits into that she didn't before. In Ottobre 1/2006, I made design #12, the skirt with hem frill, except mine doesn't have frill at the hem. Using up more fabrics that I have on hand I made her an adorable little pirate skirt that she loves! She had a sundress made out of the fabric when she was barely walking, can hardly believe now she has a big girl skirt made out of it!

I could have made the elastic a bit smaller, but the way this skirt is constructed I didn't want to rip it apart to get to the elastic so I added a few pin tucks to the flat front panel which worked out great and took in just the amount that was making it a little too loose. I need to hem the pirate skirt, but I haven't decided if I want to add a trim, band of solid color or just hem it as it is. I also cut out another skirt, same pattern, more fabric from my stash.
