Back to the 1980s!

What should you do for a friend and co-worker who is turning 30 years old and who is sad about leaving her 20s behind? Make them a cake from a childhood icon that they love!

I decorated cakes while I was in college, but that was 7 years ago and I am completely out of practice, but here it is for the world to see. I hope she loves it!!

Handmade Monday

Surprise! It's not sewing related today!! This is the birthday cake that I made my daughter for her birthday a couple weeks ago. She loved it and it was pretty yummy too!!

Ahhh the smell of sugar cookies

Yes, sugar cookies can be made any time of year, but for me it's mostly Christmas time, that means hauling up the old Kitchen Aid from the basement (I live in a tiny 1940s house so there is no room for it in the kitchen!) and the Better Crocker cookie book and making a couple batches of Mary's Sugar cookies. I wish I could smell the cookies in the oven right now, but I'm waiting on the dough to chill.

My new favorite topping this year is peppermint sprinkles on top of the icing!
